This trade has been finalized. The guy once proclaimed the next Ken Griffey Jr. has been traded for a pitcher who can become great, but not the pitching equivalent of Junior. Other players were involved, primarily Jason Bartlett and Brendan Harris.
I think this is a bad move for the Devil Rays. I do think they had the right idea in trading Delmon for Pitching, but Garza was aiming low. Not only that, but Rocco Baldelli is now supposed to shoulder the load in RF.
I will say one thing though, if the Devil Rays decide to ante up for Kazmir and Shields when it comes time, you could potentially be looking at the best young rotation in baseball with Price, McGee, Shields, Kazmir, Garza, Davis, and Niemann.

This is an absolute steal for Minny !! The best position player in baseballs minors just two years ago, goes out and finishes 2nd in the ROY and is considered a BAD year. This is a player who should easily go 30/30 in the next 2 years and could be even more. The upside is huge. I am a big proponent that pitching wins and with kaz , shields, and garza thats a great 1-2-3, but let's be honest this is a robbery. Also don't be surprised if Kaz is dealt soon as well. But any way Delmon in minny is a nice fit and Morneu, Mauer , Delmon is a good heart of any order. !! ;D

I agree with both of you.
For Tampa: I know the Tampa's OF was getting crowded with Young, Crawford, Upton, Baldelli, and whatever they're going to do with Elijah Dukes. But if they wanted to make young pitching the main part of the deal, I definitely think they could and should have gotten more. Like the commish said, their rotation will end up being the best young rotation in the league, but that might have happened even without Garza. I'm sure financial reasons are a factor, but why wouldn't they make a play for someone like Dan Haren? I know he makes more than Garza does obviously, but for what Haren is, he is a huge bargain at his current contract which expires in 2 years with a club option. It would definitely cost another minor leaguer or 2, but I would think it would be worth it.
For Minny: Garza is exactly what the commish said he is, he might be great, but he's not going to be the best pitcher in the league - let alone his own team. While Delmon has been considered the best young OF baseball. I think it was a good trade for the organization as well after losing an exciting OF in Hunter and with all of the trade talks surrounding Santana.
