The Yankees originally nominated him and bid on him, but I "ruled" it as invalid because his team page stated that he was over the cap. The Yankees did PM me about it right away, saying that he thought he was under the cap. I was just going by his team page, and told him that, but recently he made it clear that he had already dropped some players and cleared enough cap space, and that he was never over the cap when he bid on Cliff Lee.
I think part of the reason the Yankees didn't make this perfectly clear to me right away, is because he is new to leagues like this. And I don't think he should be penalized for that. He didn't have his page updated, and that was his fault, but the commish hasn't exactly been enforcing much upkeep here to say the least.
I think we need to re-open the Cliff Lee thread, with only the Yankees and Braves getting to bid. Every other team lost their chance.
What do people think? (Especially the Braves) I'd like to come up with something where no one is too upset. The situation was slightly my fault, slightly the Yanks fault, slightly the fault of the chaotic league without any real authority, so I say we try to work it out.

Ok. Sorry. I don't see where the Yanks dropped the players he claims he dropped. He just deleted them from his team page, according to the Tigers at least.
Yankees, can you please tell us what you did? All drops must be done on this board in the transactions area.

sure i dropped them off the espn page and left told everyone here when rodney went down and willy mo hit the dl , the reason i deleted them off this page the past few days was because the commish told me to update my page. My question now is , is this really a league where your not allowed to drop nor pick up players ? How is that possible !
also i want to point out to look at the last email the commish sent a few weeks ago that said everyones team and salaries that he sent to all our personal emails. It shows all my corrections and the fact I was under the cap. 9 other teams were over the cap , yet probably because they werent in first place, have not been penalized for being so. I was never over the cap yet lost out on a much needed player for no reason at all

well, i would consider doing it, but (1) it is a pain in the butt because i don't have any ability to manipulate this message board or have control over the espn site which might matter, and (2) i'd only do it if i had an group of 3 or so people willing to help out...i'd like the Reds, Tigers (as he's been helpful), and i'd pick someone else.
it would be a shame to lose this league because of 1 member leaving.

I would be willing to help out with some aspect of being a substitute commissioner. Like the Senators, I couldn't do it all, and it really could be difficult in the long run without administrative access to this board or the league. But I am willing to do what I can.
I think it would be helpful to have a few people monitoring different aspects of the league...maybe someone (the Tigers?) on the salary cap situation, someone approving finalized trades, someone on free agents, etc. After 2-3 weeks of inactivity, and without any contact via e-mail, I think we have to assume the commissioner won't be back.
